We hunted most of the week and nothing was big enough to shoot legally. With Halloween coming up and plans for the night we headed back to camp early. While on the trek back we stopped midhill to catch our breath. We were done hunting for the day so we talked and laughed and threw sticks at a squirrel in the next tree. While standing there laughing I saw antlers and my buck came into view. I quickly got the rifle off the pack. He was bedded down 80 yards away, never flinching to us kids making noise. I missed my first shot over his back, and nailed him on the next one, he never got out of his bed. we caped him out and I mounted him.
